Job Description

We seeking a qualified, experienced and enthusiastic individual to deliver housing focused case management and outreach support to men on the TSP program. This role will be based onsite at the Maribyrnong Community Residential Facility (MCRF) with outreach services delivered across metropolitan Melbourne. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and implementing individual housing plans and exit strategies for men residing at the facility; as well as supporting in the establishment of long term housing options in the community.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Work closely with the Senior Practitioner to support day-to-day operations of the TSP program
  • Manage a caseload of participants with multiple and complex needs
  • Ability to work without supervision in the community in an outreach capacity
  • Support participants to develop individually tailored housing plans and establish stable community housing

A contract can be offered until 30th June 2026, with possibility of extension.

About the program

The Maribyrnong Community Residential Facility provides an accommodation option for men exiting prison, with a strong focus on risk and community safety. The facility provides accommodation for post-release offenders and parole release offenders. To be eligible, men will need to have no immediate access to suitable housing on release from prison.

The program is a partnership between Corrections Victoria and Jesuit Social Services. Jesuit Social Services delivers pre- and post-release case management and transition support to men at the facility; addressing their individual and complex transitional needs through a responsive, tailored and flexible approach to facilitate community reintegration and reduce re-offending. The focus of the work is to support men to successfully transition to independent living beyond the facility in their communities of choice. 

Desired Skills and Experience

About you

This role will suit a candidate with the following skills and experience:

  • An understanding and empathy for the challenges facing men as they transition from custody to the community.
  • Experience working with men to address the underlying issues that contribute to offending behaviors and a knowledge of specialist services and community based support/s; including an expert understanding of the housing and homelessness sector. 
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills; and stakeholder management.
  • An understanding of risk management and the capacity to assess for risk and respond appropriately.
  • Good practice frameworks and strong relational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of working within a compliance framework
